Materials
Porcine Pericardium Sleeve

Medical Grade Plastic Stent
- Ischemic mitral valve regurgitation MR grade > 2
- Rheumatic mitral valve disease (if there is a functional anterior leaflet)
- Severe mitral valve regurgitation resulting from posterior leaflet prolapse
- Infective endocarditis of the posterior leaflet or rudimentary posterior leaflet that cannot be repaired
- Calcified or fibrosed posterior leaflet causing stenosis (in this case the posterior leaflet should be removed and replaced by the MitroFix).
Indications
A new research article by Dr Frank Oertel and colleagues has just been published in the JCTS on the results from 51 patients (mean age 67 years) implanted with the BioIntegral Surgical MitroFix Mitral valve restoration system between 2006 and 2011 at 3 centres in Europe. Results show that the MitroFix is effective at treating MR and offers several advantages over conventional annuloplasty techniques.
